Problem Statement/Opportunity: The Northern Territory Department of Education faced challenges in managing personal leave funding across various schools. Inefficiencies and disparities in the existing decentralized funding model led to a need for a more cohesive, equitable approach. The opportunity was to streamline processes, ensuring fair and consistent management of personal leave funding for schools throughout the NT, including regional and remote areas.
What I Did/Delivered: I conducted an extensive analysis and consultation process, engaging with school staff and principals across the NT. This involved reviewing existing practices and developing a comprehensive Centralised Funding for Personal Leave (CFPL) model. My approach included conceptual analysis, current and future state evaluation, and drafting detailed recommendations to implement a centralised funding model that addressed the identified disparities and operational challenges.
Outcomes: The strategic initiative to centralize personal leave funding significantly improved the equity and efficiency of leave management across NT schools. By establishing a unified system, it facilitated better resource allocation and transparency. The implemented model not only streamlined administrative processes but also fostered a more equitable distribution of resources, supporting the diverse needs of schools across the Northern Territory.
