I led a project to develop a novel way for data stewards to manage their reference data and meta data.
Problem Statement/Opportunity
The EDWRP Interface project was initiated to develop a user-friendly, secure, and reliable interface for managing reference data and metadata for NT Health’s new Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The existing NT Health Data Warehouse, a silo-based system, needed modifications with the implementation of a new core clinical system and upgrades to the hardware environment. The project’s purpose was to refine a prototype interface, ensuring accessibility both internally and externally without the need for software downloads, as a web app.
What I Did/Delivered
The project’s scope involved modifying the existing EDW interface prototype to include new features: development of authorisation/work-in-progress functionality for table updates, enhanced security features for different levels of access, functionality for handling non-EDW source data, and enabling access for internal and external users. My role encompassed managing these modifications and ensuring the delivery of a working interface to User Acceptance Testing (UAT), along with a comprehensive user guide.
Outcomes
The project was delivered on time and on budget. The outcome was an efficient and secure interface that met the specified requirements, facilitating better management of reference data and metadata. This interface was expected to significantly contribute to the overall effectiveness and accessibility of NT Health’s Enterprise Data Warehouse, aligning with the broader organizational goals of improved data management and operational efficiency.
