I created an Industry Participation Plan (IPP) for a large national IT company which successfully saw them win numerous tenders as a result.
Problem Statement/Opportunity
The primary objective was to create an Industry Participation Plan (IPP) for a major national IT company, focused on aligning with the Northern Territory’s top priorities and objectives. These included more jobs, a brighter future, investing in the bush, and safer communities. The plan aimed to redress indigenous disadvantage, improve employment options, grow local ICT industry capacity and competitiveness, and support local businesses and organizations. This strategic initiative was essential for the IT company to successfully win significant tenders in the region.
What I Did/Delivered
I developed a comprehensive IPP comprising various initiatives like mentorship and graduate trainee programs, special measures policies for indigenous participation, scholarships for indigenous or female IT students, and graduate staffing commitments for projects. The plan also included sponsorship of the biannual Innovation Symposium and training programs in partnership with Microsoft and local providers. These initiatives were meticulously planned to ensure they met both the company’s and the NT’s strategic objectives, enhancing local capacity while supporting the company’s tender bids.
Outcomes
The implementation of the IPP significantly contributed to the IT company’s success in winning numerous tenders. The plan effectively addressed local priorities and challenges, thereby enhancing the company’s standing in the NT region. By focusing on local talent development, community engagement, and industry capacity building, the IPP not only fulfilled tender requirements but also established the company as a committed and responsible corporate citizen, fostering long-term business growth and community goodwill.
