I project managed and delivered the Tropical Health Orientation App for Menzies School of Health research.
Problem Statement: The project aimed to address the challenge of providing accessible and relevant clinical guidelines and training to health professionals new to remote and rural areas of Northern Australia. These regions have culturally and linguistically diverse populations across vast, sparsely populated areas, making it imperative for healthcare professionals to have access to location-specific guidelines and culturally appropriate training.
What I Did/Delivered: As the Principal Consultant/Senior Project Manager, I led the development of the ‘Tropical Health Orientation App’ (THORA). This app served as a content aggregator, providing primary and tertiary health clinicians with crucial guidelines, training, and educational resources. My responsibilities included developing the information and technical architecture, creating a prototype for user trials, refining the app based on feedback, and ensuring its deployment on iOS and Android platforms by the set deadline.
Outcomes: The THORA was successfully delivered by the specified deadline, offering a comprehensive repository of guidelines and resources tailored to the unique healthcare challenges of Northern Australia. This app significantly enhanced the accessibility of crucial information for healthcare professionals, thereby supporting the delivery of patient-centered, best-practice clinical care in remote and rural settings.
